Founded in 1495, the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) stands among the oldest universities in Europe, boasting a rich tradition. Recognized for its excellence, the university holds the accreditation of Campus of International Excellence by the Ministry of Education in Spain.

Within the USC, the Pharmacology group has emerged as a leader in the field of marine toxin research and the development of toxin detection methods. In the ALERTOX-NET project, the USC will take on the role of leader and coordinator. Leveraging their expertise, they will significantly contribute to configuring the toxicity detection «alert» system.

Additionally, the university will serve as a vital link to regional actors in Galicia, fostering the seamless transfer of project results to both industry and public administrations. The USC’s long-standing legacy and commitment to excellence make them a key player in the advancement of marine toxicity detection within the ALERTOX-NET initiative.
